Station 27 One of Station 19's members has been forever immortalized on the side of Station 27. The mural was painted by a local artist on individual tiles and installed on the side of the Station 27. It depicts various aspects of Denver Harbor, HFD and Station 27. The scene featuring 19's Justin Gable shows the manager of the local Fiesta grocery store thanking crew members for saving his life after collapsing from cardiac arrest. Station 27's Richard Rocha is signing the helmet. Station 27, the "Lyons Den", is located off Lyons Ave in Denver Harbor and is one of four stations which make up District 19. The current station is approximately 2 years old and replaced the old two-story, single bay station 27 just down the street. 27's houses Engine 27, Ambulance 27, Squad 27 and Shift Commander 27. One item which was transferred to the new station is the gravestone of 'Virgil', the station mascot from 1940-1951. |
