2007 HFD BBQ Cook Off

FireFest

Val Jahnke Fire Training Field

On the morning of  Friday October 26, 2007 members of HFD 19B met at the station to load the trucks, the RV and BBQ pit and headed out to the 2007 HFD BBQ CookOff and Fire Fest hosted by the Houston Fire Dept and VJTF.  Friday was spent setting up the booth and preparing the BBQ for the cook off Saturday.

On Saturday HFD hosted the annual FireFest which featured demonstrations, booths and entertainment for the public.

Judging was held that evening, and Station 19 was awarded the prestigious "Best Pit" award and presented with a plaque to be hung at the station.  B shift was on hand all day to feed close to 200 people, and D shift participated in several demonstrations, live burns and apparatus parades.

ShotGun Shack Cookers

The name given to the cooking team was the ShotGun Shack Cookers.

The entrance to the booth was the actual front of a house donated to the team,

and was the scene of a fire fought by the C shift off of Lorraine St.
